The Honourable Seamus O’Regan, Canada’s Minister of Natural Resources, announced that the government is launching calls for proposals for the Investments in Forest Industry Transformation (IFIT) program to invest almost $83 million to bridge the gap between new product development and commercialization and ensure a more competitive and resilient forest sector. The IFIT program aims to create a more competitive and resilient forest sector with a focus on low-carbon projects that result in new or diversified revenue streams. IFIT-funded projects help diversify the forest product market through high-value bioproducts like bioenergy, biomaterials, biochemicals and next generation building products.
